THE STRATEGY

Littering is such a pervasive issue and truly a Wicked Problem! We will combat the problem with a four-prong strategy and through active engagement and partnership with as many organizations and individuals as possible. The four prongs of our strategy are: (1) five learning activity booklets for children, (2) face-to-face launch events at schools, (3) a social media campaign, and (4) a media partnership/co-branding program.

Strategy 1: Activity Booklets

Our primary strategy is education targeting children and their parents. We aim to educate children about various aspects of improper and proper waste disposal through these free activity booklets, which you can download from our download page. The booklets are:

  1. Why Littering is Bad
  2. Waste in Waterways
  3. The 3 Rs, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle
  4. Waste Segregation
  5. No Burning Waste

Strategy 2: Face-to-Face Launch Events

The second prong of our project is to run Green Turtle Hero events at Elementary schools. Our Hero will visit schools and run one to two-hour events to educate the children about the negative impacts of littering through interactive activities and discussions. The booklets will be disseminated to the children at these events as well as other collateral including stickers, papercraft, and our phone game. Accompanying the booklets will be a letter to the parents encouraging them to complete the booklets with their children.

Strategy 3: Social Media and Online Engagement

At the core of our social media and online engagement strategy is the strategic use of Facebook, TikTok, Zalo, and LinkedIn. We will leverage their vast user bases across Vietnam to disseminate our anti-littering and anti-single-use plastic pollution messaging through engaging content. We plan to further amplify our message by leveraging relationships with schools, community clubs, and other organizations, facilitating deeper community involvement. This approach not only broadens our reach but also enhances message retention and behavioral change efficacy.

Through Facebook, TikTok, and Zalo we will target the general population to raise awareness about our Hero and anti-littering message. LinkedIn will be utilized to find like-minded partners to join our mission.

Strategy 4: Media Partnership/Co-Branding Program

UNSDG 17 – Partnership for the Goals

Our fourth strategic prong is a Media Partnership Program that will call on companies and organizations to co-brand with the Green Turtle Hero integrating the characters and slogan into their communication channels. This will amplify the crucial message of anti-littering and waste segregation.

We invite any interested organization to partner with us and collaborate in a variety of ways, including co-branded campaigns, featuring our characters in their advertising, social media engagement, and educational content. By doing so, partners not only enhance their own corporate social responsibility efforts but also contribute to a larger, community-wide impact.

We will support our partners with a media kit, including digital assets, content guidelines, and collaborative marketing strategies, ensuring that the message is both consistent and effective. Through this fourth strategy we hope to reach a much broader general audience beyond the schools and social media channels.
